Quality Flight Training: Our Number One Focus

At American Flyers, we don’t sell fuel and we don’t charter or rent our airplanes. When asked why we don’t rent our airplanes to the public, the answer is simple: we want to ensure our students have access to our airplanes whenever they need them. Our priority is flight training and nothing else. As one individual eloquently wrote in a review, “American Flyers has been training pilots for almost one hundred years. Unlike other flight-training schools, they do not rent airplanes or do anything other than provide pilot training. This makes them better than most other schools because they are solely focused on getting the student trained and certificated in the shortest possible time. They are also great with customizing a training program around the student’s schedule.”

We appreciate the review, and we agree: a sole focus on flight training allows us to build customizable programs for each of our students. As our mission statement clearly states, we are here to support pilots through aviation education, and we are committed to providing the best quality training. We remain dedicated to ensuring our students build the confidence, skill sets, and knowledge required to be fully competent and safe pilots.

You’ll notice that this mission statement has nothing to say about renting our airplanes. Instead, we promote quality flight training with programs that are specifically designed for the individual student.

Flight training is not “one size fits all.” Every student is different. Our students have different backgrounds, schedules, and needs, and they all learn in different ways. Our job is to get to know the student, determine their goals, and figure out how we can help them. Many of our students begin their training at another school but finish up at American Flyers. Much of the reason for this has to do with being able to complete their training within a reasonable amount of time.

In the past, we have been able to put together programs based around students’ availability. This has changed a little bit due to activity in the industry. We are still committed to putting together a program based around your schedule, but we require some flexibility. Our team is very good about asking, “When do you want to complete your training?” From there, we can tailor a program that helps you complete your training within your expected time frame.

We also offer a variety of flight training programs for every type of aviator. Even though we have trained more airline pilots than any other flight school, we specialize in programs for private, instrument, commercial add-on, multi-engine, and CFI certifications. We are a diversified flight school, and we exist to help any aviator, from the seasoned veteran to the person looking for an introductory flight. For our CFIs, we offer the best flight instructor revalidation course (FIRC) in the industry. In fact, we revalidate over 50 percent of all CFIs!

American Flyers may not rent airplanes, but we do offer quality flight training combined with state-of-the-art equipment. As a student, you will always have the necessary resources to complete your training. We are committed to our students and look forward to helping you complete your aviation goals.
