Tell us a little about yourself.

I’m from Maryville, Tennessee. I played football and soccer in high school, and I love to travel and be outdoors.

What got you into flying?

I got into flying because of my stepbrother. He is at the airlines and seems to really enjoy it, and it seemed like a lifestyle I wanted.

How did you go about choosing a flight school?

I only visited American Flyers, but I researched and read about a lot of schools before deciding on one.

What made you choose American Flyers?

Like I said, I researched many schools before picking one. Also, when my stepbrother was in simulator training for the airlines, he asked some people he was training with what flight school they would recommend, and they said American Flyers was definitely the place you wanted to be.

How much outside studying did you have to put in during your time with AF?

I have found that two to three hours a day works very well, though sometimes more depending on what you are learning. I really feel that the instructors and the classroom time prepare you well, so it doesn’t take as much outside study as other schools without the ground training.

What is your most memorable moment at American Flyers?

My most memorable moment at American Flyers will always be my first solo and getting my shirt cut, and of course always getting to ring the bell after an accomplishment.

Looking back, what advice would you give someone interested in starting pilot training?

I would advise anyone interested in starting pilot training to never compare yourself to other people around you but to just focus on being a better pilot than you were the day before. There is always room for improvement.

What’s next for you?

The next step in my training is to take my instrument checkride in a couple of weeks and then I will be starting on my commercial pilot certificate. After I am done at American Flyers, I am hoping to get a flight instructing job to start working towards my hours for the airlines.

If you could fly anywhere, go to any flying destination, where would it be?

If I could go anywhere, I would love to go to Europe. However, if it’s just in a smaller single engine plane, I would love to do some flying out west in Wyoming and Colorado.
