The 2024 Oshkosh Airshow Recap

The Oshkosh Airshow, held annually in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, is a mecca for aviation enthusiasts and professional aviators from all over the world. The event is a week-long celebration of all things aviation. With over 1,700 aircraft arrivals and more than 10,000 aircraft operating at Wittman Regional Airport and other reliever airports in east-central Wisconsin, the Oshkosh Airshow is truly a sight to behold.

Having attended the event for the past seven years, I can attest to the incredible passion and dedication of those in attendance. The Oshkosh Airshow is not just a showcase of incredible flying feats; it is also a place for aviators to come together to educate one another and share their love for flying. The workshops and forums held during the event provide a unique opportunity for attendees to learn from experts in the field and engage in discussions about the latest developments in aviation.

One of the most striking aspects of the Oshkosh Airshow is the eagerness of the attendees to learn and share their passion for aviation. Whether you are a seasoned pilot or a novice enthusiast, there is something for everyone at this event. The sense of camaraderie and community among those in attendance is truly inspiring. It is evident that the Oshkosh Airshow is more than just a gathering of aviation lovers; it is a celebration of a shared passion for flight.

The sheer scale of the Oshkosh Airshow is awe-inspiring. With over 21,000 aircraft operations in the 8 days from July 22nd to July 28th, averaging approximately 148 takeoffs and landings per hour, the event is a well-oiled machine that attracts aviation enthusiasts from all corners of the globe. The diversity of aircraft on display is staggering, ranging from vintage warbirds to cutting-edge experimental aircraft.

As I walked through the sprawling grounds of Wittman Regional Airport, taking in the sights and sounds of the Oshkosh Airshow, the air was filled with the roar of jet engines and the hum of propellers, and the excitement was palpable. For me, the Oshkosh Airshow is more than just a gathering of planes and pilots; it is a testament to the human spirit of exploration and innovation. The aviation industry is constantly evolving, pushing the boundaries of what is possible, and the Oshkosh Airshow is a showcase of the incredible achievements that have been made in this field.

As I reflect upon my experiences at the Oshkosh Airshow, I am filled with gratitude for the opportunity to be a part of this incredible event. The passion and dedication of those in attendance inspire me to continue pursuing my love for aviation, and I am already looking forward to next year’s event.
