Where are you from?

Newark, NJ.

What influenced you to become a pilot?

I was looking for a new, challenging career path.

What did you finish up at American Flyers?

My private pilot’s license.

What led you to start looking for another flight school to finish up?

The school I was at previously was not organized and did not have much of a curriculum. Having more structure was appealing to me. I also liked the one-on-one aspect of American Flyers vs. doing group ground training.

What did you see that was a big difference between your previous flight school and American Flyers?

The single student training. Being one-on-one with an instructor and having them be devoted to my learning was something that I saw with American Flyers that was a big difference from my last flight school.

Describe your experience with American Flyers.

It has been very positive. American Flyers is organized, the curriculum is easy to follow, and you always know what you’re going to be doing next.

Why would you recommend American Flyers to another student looking to change schools?

The curriculum is laid out and organized, and any student can know what they’re going to be doing ahead of time. The instructors are patient and knowledgeable and possess all the qualities needed when teaching.

It was something I wanted to do a long time ago, and then I got married and had kids, and now I decided to finish the process.

What did you finish up at American Flyers?

I finished up my private pilot license and have since moved on to my IRA (instrument rating) and CAX (commercial pilot knowledge test).

What led you to start looking for another flight school to finish up?

Other flight schools are limited as far as instructors and planes. American Flyers has enough of both to keep training moving forward.

What did you see that was a big difference between your previous flight school and American Flyers?

The main difference was the quality of the planes. At American Flyers, the majority of the fleet are TAAs (technically advanced airplanes).

Describe your experience with American Flyers.

It’s a great program that will get you in and out. I wasn’t the greatest student in school and hated to study but doing Part 141 was appealing to me. Everyone was really knowledgeable and they all contributed to helping me get through.

Why would you recommend American Flyers to another student looking to change schools?

The availability is a big thing. Most schools that you come across are not going to have a comparable fleet of planes or the same availability of instructors. Other schools will say they can get you through your training quicker, but most likely they won’t be able to.

Gabriel Santana

Where are you from?

I was born in California, but I grew up in Lake Worth, FL.

What influenced you to become a pilot?

Flying was always a daydream for me. However, what sparked the jump was the timing of airlines needing pilots and finding myself still searching for a career.

What did you finish up at American Flyers?

I started at American Flyers to finish up my private pilot license. I enjoyed it so much that I have continued, and I’m now in the instrument and commercial program.

What led you to start looking for another flight school to finish up?

At my former school, there was a lack of accountability and professionalism as a school as a whole and from individual instructors that led me to look for another flight school. What I was receiving compared to what I was paying for was disappointing.

What did you see that was a big difference between your previous flight school and American Flyers?

American Flyers provided professional instructors who had the integrity, knowledge, and positivity to help me regain my confidence in finishing my PPL. This is the biggest difference between American Flyers and other schools. Students need the proper instruction to have any success in this field.

Describe your experience with American Flyers.

My experience has been incredible, and I am extremely happy I made the change. I aim to be an instructor for American Flyers.

Why would you recommend American Flyers to another student looking to change schools?

I have recommended American Flyers because of their instructors and the format they provide to help students gain their licenses. They provide all the tools needed to complete their program. They are also flexible with scheduling which has allowed me to continue working while I’m in the program as a full-time student.
